Quasi

This project was focused on designing multiple products under Quasi, a generative AI startup I co-founded in 2021 (before ChatGPT), when most people didn’t know what generative AI was. At the time, existing tools felt technical and abstract. Each product we built aimed to prove that thoughtful interfaces could make AI feel approachable, purposeful, and easy to use. The goal was simple: show how good design could turn raw models into real products.

When I gained early access to GPT-2 in 2021, few people recognized its potential beyond novelty. There was no "killer interface" that everyday users felt comfortable with. Over two years, I explored multiple product directions, each demonstrating how well-designed interfaces could make generative AI deeply valuable and intuitive.

Quasi School: Chat-based learning powered by AI tutors across multiple academic disciplines.

Quasi Market: A platform allowing users to easily create, host, and share niche generative AI tools.

Quasi Music: A minimalist interface offering endless streams of AI-generated music.

Quasi Business: A tailored generative AI content platform helping businesses efficiently produce branded social media content.

Outcome

I learned what it means to design for all stakeholders: end users, internal engineering, marketing, etc. Through Quasi, I was able to flex my design muscle and demonstrate AI’s vast potential through intentionally simplified and user-focused design. Each product emphasized immersion, value creation, and minimal friction.

Quasi School crashed in the first hour of launching due to the 1,700 r/purdue subredditors trying the tool out.

Over 11,000 users and 100,000+ community tools created on Quasi Market.

17,000+ minutes of AI-generated music streamed on Quasi Music within the first month.

Successful adoption by SMBs and Fortune 500 enterprises through Quasi Business.

All before ChatGPT came out in November of 2022.
